For those asking about the powder I use, it’s called PanPastel and you can get it from an artist shop (not a craft shop like HobbyLobby) like DickBLick.com or Amazon. The individual colors are between $5 and $8, and you MUST HAVE colorless blender which is abotu $10 on Amazon.
Before anyone goes out to get them, PLEASE NOTE that some artists like Sue-Ellen Taormina don’t like Panpastels and prefer highly pigmented makeup like Coastal Scents (out of business, but still available on ebay.) or Kryolan (they make makeup for movies and such). HOWEVER, and artist I know told me about Pan Pastels prior to finding out that they are frowned upon by some.
THe issue with the Pan Pastels is they are VERY strong colors, and many people have problems with them. So they are NOT recommended for new artists….but I am a new artist and I think they are wonderful.
What I was told to do is mix the color with the colorless blender (I used 50/50. If you are trying to make a non primary color like green (they DO sell many colors, but some people like to make their own. ) make sure you mix the colors AFTER setting up the primary color with colorless blender. Mix them in a little jar with a lid
However you do it once you have the color you like, you add alcohol to make a little slurry. Then a little more so it’s soupy. I can’t tell you how much because I eyeball it. Once you have hte alcohol added tap it on the table a few times gently to get the air out, then set it up away from kids and pets and let it sit until it evaporates the alcohol you will have a set of colors (pallet?)
Make sure you only get the MATTE COLORS.. Watch how to use powder in reborning videos, but know if you follow them realise that your PP takes VERY (VERY VERY) little . Have an eraaser ahndy as well as a wet cosmetic sponge or towel. And be VERY light handed. They ARE highly pigmented, I tap my makeup brush on the pad and use VERY little…. I used regular alohol , but many artist you 99%.
